Hello all,
I am fond of my sporting memories of W C P, though I can't say that the social side of things really jump out at me as being pleasant to recall. I was part of the under-class that attended, although we got along ok we didn't really advance to any great heights.
I absolutely enjoyed being very good at football, and cricket. I had trials for Liverpool school boys, along with two others. One was John Fisk, a great dribbler, and the other was Michael Askew. None of us were selected to go further but we had a great time.
Our football team didn't achieve greatness, but the same can't be said for the Cricket team. We won two trophies in one year. We won our league by the Friday night, and on the Saturday we had won a cup match, which was played at a very posh ground near Gateacre Comp:, a bit further along the road, closer to Childwall. We also got a whole team out for 9 runs in that season. We were awesome. Mr Thomas must have been delighted that he had some real talent around him in his team.
I have recently been in contact with Tony Salmon, and would gladly welcome anyone else who would like to corrrespond with me. It would be great if a member of our Football / Cricket team, who rembers our seasons together, would get in touch.
But for now, well done for putting this together, it is wonderful to know that most, if not all, the pupils of W C P, know just how special that place was.
God Bless
George

Hi.....I had attended St Peter's Infant and the first year of St Peter's Junior School in Woolton where the new Head Teacher was Mr McCoskery (Still remember that 'tongue-tying' name!). Then I moved into the second year at the new CP School in Out Lane - into Miss Meredith's class. I remember Mr Garrett and all the rabbits in hutches in a corner of the school playground. I remember really enjoying country dancing. I have always loved dancing and I seemed to have a brilliant dancing partner - John Bannon - who was in my class. I liked painting and drawing and eventually became an Art Teacher myself. I loved the bew paintings that were hung in the corridors of such a bright and colourful school - and the smell of new varnish and paint!

Very fond memories of Woolton CP, I am still today in regular contact with my friends who were Linda Pinnington Jackie Cullen, Patricia Trevaskis, we are all now approaching 50 from September 2009 up to August 2010 when I will be 50 myself. I would love to know if anyone has any photos of a play that we did it was Toad of Toad Hall, we had a fab part we were 3 ducks. ha. O what a laugh that was, I see Linda is on the picture of 1966. Remember the christmas party in the infants they did for us, it was a happy time. I remember George Humphreys and quite a few names, so if anyone has any photos please let me know, we are we are having a get together soon and it would be great to present them as a surprise.
(If you can help, please send a message through the CONTACT US page, it will be forwarded to Lorraine).

I do not remember much about Out Lane School only these few things, having the morris dancing on the play ground, the lollypop lady [Mrs Bellringer] who helped us across Kings Drive to go home. But what happy days I had at that school.

Hi, I never attended that school but do remember David Trivett, he was my scoutmaster at the 15th Fairfield Scout Group for all the time i was there (1954 till 1963). He was a man with his own agenda - that is always the boss, but comanded respect. A lot of mothers and fathers liked him but as a young lad I didn't . Years later I found out that he had some kind of bust-up with the church. I know he passed away years ago.

I loved when I was in Woolton. When we had to leave in year six I cried my eyes out. When we went out of the gates I kept hold of the gates because I really really didn't want to leave. I still wanna go back in time when I was year three. It makes me so sad when we walk or drive past. The kids there are so lucky - they should try and have an amazing time, and to all the year fives and year sixes GOOD LUCK IN YOUR EXAMS.

I remember Tony Salmon's mum, Mrs Salmon, being my dinner lady! Does anybody remember Mrs Bellringer who was the lollipop lady for many years? I have lots of fond memories of my time at the school.
